PlayStation will stop releasing physical media by 2028. It’s a move that has upset many PlayStation fans.

Physical Media is a big deal for people in the Gen X and Millennial generations. Physical Media brings excitement, and it’s somewhat of a shock that PlayStation would make this decision. We understand that we are in the digital era. We understand that we have to evolve in business and life in general.

However, PlayStation could still keep the legacy or tradition going through physical media. For many years, PlayStation has done right by its customers by selling physical media through its video game consoles. It’s sad to think that we are going to see a world where physical media will be all gone. Therefore, physical media fans need to start purchasing physical DVDs and Blu-rays online before it’s too late.

Thankfully, platforms like Amazon are the ideal place to buy physical media online. The original PlayStation debuted in 1994 in Japan. The console achieved massive success, especially with hit games such as Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, Tekken 3, Final Fantasy, and Resident Evil.

Almost every kid was obsessed with the original PlayStation from 1997 through 2000, until the explosion of its successor, the PlayStation 2, which hit the stores in December 2000. PlayStation 2 took things to a whole new level, and it’s arguably the best PlayStation console in history.

Thomas Edison is credited as the architect of the physical media. One would believe that the Golden Era of Physical Media happened during the 1980s, 90s, and early 2000s, when cassette tapes, VHS, and DVDs emerged in electronics stores and all over the place. While this news is tough, there is still hope that a store can open and sell physical media. Cycles usually happen in life. Let’s see what the future holds.
