Rafael Nadal’s legendary tennis career comes to an end. Nadal, the ‘King of Clay,’ has graced the tennis court from 2002 to 2024—one of the greatest ever to play the sport.
The 38-year-old Spaniard wept as he said goodbye to tennis on Tuesday. His family was in attendance and also in tears.

On Tuesday, after the Netherlands eliminated Spain in the Davis Cup quarterfinals, a ceremony for Nadal featured a tribute video.
Nada addressed the fans and everyone else who supported him throughout the years. He hopes to inspire kids to follow their passion.
“I just want to be remembered as a good person and a kid that followed their dreams,” Nadal said.
Nadal showed great sportsmanship whether he wins or loses a match. Nadal has done it all in Tennis. Here is a list of his accomplishments:
– 1080 singles wins
– 912 consecutive weeks inside the Top 10
– 209 weeks as World No. 1
– 92 singles titles
– 63 singles titles on clay
– 36 Masters 1000s
– 30 Grand Slam finals
– 22 Grand Slam titles
– 14 Roland Garros titles
– 5-time year-end No. 1
– 2 Olympic gold medals
Often imitated but never duplicated. Nadal has come a long way to reach the status that he has reached.
“The titles, numbers, they’re there,” Nadal said. “People probably know that. The way I’d like to be remembered more is like a good person from a small village in Mallorca.”

Many of his peers paid tribute to Nadal with lovely words of appreciation and gratitude, especially from one of his main rivals, Roger Federer.
He wrote a retirement letter to Nadal and posted it on social media.

Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic send their final message to Nadal.
“Your passion & intensity was something all tennis players aspire to,” Murray said.
“I’m honored & thrilled to be called your rival,” Djokovic said.
