The North Carolina Tar Heels are struggling in the first half this season. Should we be concerned about their double-digit first-half deficits?
The Tar Heels have played some great competition this year. However, the team needs to improve and figure out certain areas.
UNC is constantly driving to the lane and dribbling too much.
There’s a lack of chemistry with this team. The Tar Heels are excellent in transition, but during half-court possessions, they look lost and don’t know what they’re doing.
Three straight slow starts in Maui and double-digit first-half deficits in four out of seven games probably mean Carolina needs to address the starting lineup moving forward.
It’s time for Coach Hubert Davis to change the lineup. Something significant needs to change to eliminate their first-half woes.
In four of seven games, UNC had 30 first-half turnovers compared to the opponent’s 11.
Tar Heels should’ve won the game against Michigan State. They had many good opportunities.
Michigan State shot 54% from the field and made 24 of 31 from the free-throw line. It scored 50 points in the paint to North Carolina’s 30.
Drake Powell is arguably UNC’s best player this season. He should be out in the starting lineup. Powell plays exceptionally well on both ends of the floor and contributes great energy and effort for the Tar Heels.
Davis needs to be a more decisive, vocal leader and have more confidence this season.
RJ Davis has been struggling. We wonder if he’s hurt. Davis will get out of this funk, but we hope this happens sooner rather than later. Davis’s best performance was against Dayton, scoring a season-high 30 points. His three-point shooting has been abysmal, and he must work on it.
The coaching staff must develop a brilliant strategy to get this team on a winning streak.
The Tar Heels are 4-3 this season and are currently ranked No. 12 in the AP Top 25.
