Academy Award winner Cillian Murphy will no longer appear in the “28 Years Later” project.
It’s not the news fans wanted to hear, but it’s the reality. Murphy, who appeared in the first movie in 2002, won’t appear in the trilogy. Murphy played the character of Jim.
Could schedule conflicts be getting in the way? Is it probably not the right time to work on the project?
Director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland will reunite for the upcoming trilogy. 28 Days Later is a post-apocalyptic horror film.
When the first movie came out, it did well at the box office and became one of the most profitable films of 2002 in the horror genre. 28 Days Later made 85 million in the box offense.
The second one, 28 Weeks Later, which came out in 2007, grossed over 65 million worldwide at the box office.
Due to the film’s success, it explored other projects, such as a comic book series called “28 Days Later: The Aftermath,” which ran from 2009 to 2011.
Murphy won an Oscar as the leading man for his role in Oppenheimer last year.
28 Days Later will be released on June 20, 2025, in the United States and the United Kingdom. The film was shot on an iPhone.
