YouTube’s success and growth have been sensational. The video streaming platform has revealed that the company has more viewership on TV than mobile devices.
It doesn’t come as a surprise since TV is still king. Customers want to be more relaxed and prefer to watch videos from their couch or bed rather than be stuck on the phone for hours.
YouTube has come a long way. At one point, the streaming giant didn’t have full-length videos. If you go back to 2006, it was a completely different YouTube. It’s understandable because, hey, we’re so young, and it only got started in 2005.
YouTube’s birth will be marked on Valentine’s Day, the 20th anniversary of its founding.
YouTube has been No. 1 for the last few years, and they hope to keep it that way for years to come. YouTube is the closest thing to a Time Machine because customers can watch classic videos, interviews, and much more.
Neal Mohan is YouTube’s current CEO. He took over in 2023, replacing Susan Wojcicki. Mohan studied Business in college and put in years of hard work before taking over YouTube. He’s been with YouTube since 2015, but it took him eight years before getting promoted to CEO.
Mohan is responsible for expanding and elevating YouTube to different areas, such as YouTube TV, YouTube Music, YouTube Premium, and YouTube Shorts.
One of the things that YouTube is missing that they witness Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime accomplish is for one of their original programming to get nominated for prestigious awards like the Emmys, Golden Globes, and the Oscars.
