Kansas State Wildcats continued their hot streak by upsetting Arizona Wildcats, 73-70, ending their six-game winning streak.
In conference play, Kansas State improves to 13-11 (7-6). The Wildcats have won four games against the Top 25 teams.
Dug McDaniel led Kansas State with 22 points. He caught fire down the stretch for the Wildcats. David N’Guessan added 16 points.
Arizona shot poorly from downtown, making just 2 of 23 attempts. Turnovers continue to be a central issue for this team. Arizona finished with 17 turnovers, while Kansas State only had 10.
KJ Lewis led Arizona with 15 points. He demonstrated great toughness and resilience while playing through pain. Carter Bryant posted a career-high 11 rebounds.
Kansas State scored 11 points off Arizona’s eight turnovers in the first half. Kansas State led 35-29 by halftime.
Kansas State went on an 8-0 run after trailing by 2 points with 4:05 remaining in the game. The Wildcats defense did a good job in boxing out.
With the loss, Arizona falls to second place in the Big 12 standings, while Houston moves up to first place. Arizona is now 17-7 (11-2 in the Big 12 conference). It will play No. 6 Houston on Saturday.
Kansas State has entered itself back into the NCAA tournament conversation. If they keep this momentum, they will get in the tournament. Kansas State has been winning and playing well as a unit.
