Going the Distance is one of the most underrated comedy movies of 2010. It’s been fifteen years since the release of this entertaining movie starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long.

The story centers on Eric and Garrett, two lovebirds who can’t get enough of each other. Eric moves to San Francisco to finish her journalism degree. Garrett’s passion is music. He lives in New York, trying to make it in the music industry.

Eric and Garrett try to make their long-distance relationship work by using webcams. Just as things were getting better and they were soon to be reunited, big opportunities got in their way that could jeopardize their relationship.

The movie has a solid cast. Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, and Christina Applegate provide significant supporting roles. Day portrays the character of Dan. Sudeikis’ character name is Box, and Applegate is Corinne.

Day and Sukeikis are scene stealers. Without them, this movie would’ve been less funny. They were terrific with incredible one-liners and great comedic timing. They are Garrett’s best friends in this movie.

Barrymore, in her prime years, was one of the best in rom-com movies. She’s perfect for that genre. She’s the ultimate queen. Barrymore and Long have good chemistry, but we can all say that is not the same as Barrymore and Adam Sandler in rom-com flicks.

Going the Distance has its flaws, but comedy movies are not meant to be taken seriously. Comedy movies receive mixed reviews, depending on the viewer’s sense of humor and understanding of the joke.

The acting is the authentic MVP in this movie. Overall, the review for Going The Distance is a 3.7 out of 5 stars.
