St John’s Red Storm (11-5) dominated Creighton Bluejays (10-7) with a 90-73 victory on Saturday afternoon at CenturyLink Center Omaha, Omaha.

The Johnnies were unstoppable offensively. They made several threes. The first half was more dominant than the second half. St John’s went on a 25-4 run in the half, which the Bluejays had no answer for.

Lefteris Liotopoulos led the team with 17 points on 6 of 10 from the field. Dillon Mitchell added nine boards. St John’s had six players in double figures.

“We have player development every morning,” Coach Rick Pitino said after the game. “We have a series of drills where they get what they shoot in five different segments.”

It’s St John’s second straight road win. St. John’s is 4-1 in Big East Conference play. The Red Storm must continue to play this dominantly. When the team plays this well on both ends of the floor, they are tough to beat.

Oziyah Sellers continues to be a fantastic player for the Red Storm. What he brings to the team is extraordinary. Zuby is going to be Zuby. Ian Jackson needs to be more of threat on offense. He came to St John’s from North Carolina, and we must see him continue to raise his game to the next level.

St John’s has won six of nine lately. It’s even better that they have three Quad One wins. We are seeing a team that’s slowly becoming a team that could give opponents a scare like last season. St John’s needs to be a team that can prove that they can go far in March Madness.
