R&B singer and businessman Usher Raymond breaks his silence on Sean “Diddy” Combs and remains loyal to me throughout the storm.
Usher feels that the hip hop mogul has been “misrepresented.” He did an interview with Forbes, saying the following:
“I don’t have anything negative to say about Sean Combs because my experience was not what the world has seen and how he’s been misrepresented,” Usher said.
The 47-year-old doesn’t want to badmouth, and one reason could be his history with Diddy and his continued respect for him. Combs has been a mentor to Usher.
Usher and Combs worked together for Usher’s first album, Usher. Combs served as the primary executive producer of the album. The album received mixed reviews, but it marked the beginning of Usher’s experience and momentum in the industry.
Many years ago, Usher revealed on The Howard Stern Show that he moved to New York to live in Combs’ house.
“I moved to New York City, and I lived with Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs for a year,” he said. “I got a chance to see some things. I went there to see the lifestyle, and I did, but I don’t know if I understood what I was even looking at. It was pretty wild. Biggie Smalls was there. Lil Kim, Craig Mack, Faith Evans, Jodeci. I was having a good time.”
Usher was 14 at the time. It was called the “Puffy Flavor Camp.” When Howard asked him if he was ever to send his kid to a Puffy Camp, Usher strongly responded, “Hell No!’
Combs has been making headlines for the last few years. He was convicted on prostitution-related charges last year following a sensational, much-covered trial. Still, he was acquitted on the more serious sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges he’d faced. There was also footage of where he physically assaulted singer Cassie Ventura.
As for the prostitution charges, Combs was sentenced in October to four years in prison. Combs is currently appealing the sentence.
