Video games bring enjoyment and stress relief for those who grew up playing them. If you’re passionate about sports, then owning sports video games would be essential, and in 2000, there were many good sports video games.
Nintendo 64 and Playstation One were the top video game consoles then. The N64 was released in 1995 or 96, but people still sought video games like hotcakes. 2000 is one of the best years for Nintendo 64 and PlayStation One.
Here are some of the Top 5 best sports video games from 2000.
5) NHL 2001
It is one of the first hockey video games for PlayStation Two. The game was released in 2000 and in some countries in early 2001.
It was the tenth and final installment of the NHL series. EA Sports knocked this one out of the ballpark, or “put one in the net.”
Fantastic audio, creative and intelligent gameplay, and impressive game options.
4) Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
If you don’t follow skateboarding, then you would be lost if you didn’t know who Tony Hawk is. Thanks to the video games and being on the cover, Hawk became more recognizable.
Hawk is one of the best to do it in skateboarding, and his creativity and work ethic are incredible. He was successful in many areas, and of course, we can’t forget his philanthropy work in building skateparks.
The video game received critical and commercial success. It has incredible features. It’s Hawk’s best and highest-rated game until the next decade.
Pro Skater 2 was initially released in September 2000 for the PlayStation before being released for the Nintendo 64 and other game consoles.
3) Backyard Baseball
Released in June 2000, the video wasn’t released on either N64 or PlayStation, but it is one of the most creative sports video games of 2000. It’s animated, with great graphics. Cal Ripken Jr. is one of the covers in the animated version.
2) NFL Madden 2001
One of the best things about this game is the cover. Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George was chosen to be on the cover of NFL Madden 2001.
George was a top running back in the early 2000s. The Titans went to the Suoer Bowl the year before the game came out.
Madden games are legendary, but the classic ones stand out—one of the best football games in the history of PlayStation One.
1) WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role
What do you think when you hear “Know Your Role?” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The Rock was very popular and had a lot of momentum then.
When Stone Cold Steve Austin was out due to injuries, The Rock and Triple H’s rivalry carried the load for the company. Both of them were two of the best in the business in 2000 and rightfully so deserve to be part of this video game.
It is arguably the best wrestling video game for PlayStation One. The music, graphics, matches, and cast of characters made this game memorable.
