Emmy-nominated actress Lily James will star with Chris Hemsworth in Subversion, a new submarine thriller.
Andrew Fersuson is the screenwriter for the project. German filmmaker Patrick Vollrath will direct his second feature film and his second collaboration with Amazon.
Subversion is about a commander who a cartel-like organization blackmails into piloting a dangerous submarine carrying illegal cargo across international waters.
James will play a Coast Guard officer. It will be an interesting challenge for her to tackle this role. James is getting work in 2025 because her next picture will be starting alongside Riz Ahmed for another thriller called Relay.
After the movie premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, Relay will be released in theaters worldwide on August 22.
James has been working on several projects for years. Still, she became more known to the public for her portrayal of Pamela Anderson in Hulu’s Pam and Tommy, which landed her nominations for the Golden Globes and Emmys.
Vollrath debuted his feature film with the 2019 action thriller 7500. The main star was Joseph Gordon Lewitt. Vollrath also co-wrote the movie with Senad Halibasic.
Gordon Lewitt was praised for his performance in the movie, which was made on a $5 million budget and distributed by Amazon Studios.
Before making his feature, Vollrath made eight short films. His last short film, Everything Will Be Okay, which came out in 2015, won the Rail d’Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival and received an Oscar nomination for Best Live Action Short Film.
